Install in Claude Code
Claude Code reads a SkillPlug pack as a skill and saves your progress as real files, so it is one of the best places to run a pack.
These steps use the Step 1 pack. For another pack, swap in its folder name (step2-pack, aways-pack, or skillplug-weekly-planner).
1. Unzip and make a study folder
- Unzip your download. You should see a folder named
step1-pack. - Create a study folder, for example
med-school-coachin your home folder. You will start Claude Code here every time.
2. Copy the pack into a skills folder
Pick one location:
| Location | When to use it |
|---|---|
~/.claude/skills/step1-pack/ | The pack is available in every folder you open Claude Code in |
med-school-coach/.claude/skills/step1-pack/ | The pack is available only in your study folder |
The easiest way is the Terminal. On a Mac, open the Terminal app and paste this (it assumes you unzipped into Downloads):
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skillscp -R ~/Downloads/step1-pack ~/.claude/skills/Prefer Finder?
Folders that start with a dot are hidden. In Finder, press Cmd + Shift + G, type ~/.claude, and press Return. Create a skills folder if there isn't one, then drag the whole step1-pack folder into it. On Windows, the same folder is C:\Users\<you>\.claude\skills.
Copy the whole folder. Claude Code registers the root SKILL.md, and the other files inside are supporting files it opens when needed.
3. Start your first session
-
In the Terminal, go to your study folder and start Claude Code:
Terminalcd ~/med-school-coachclaude -
Say: "Set me up for Step 1".
-
Answer the setup interview. Claude Code creates
skillplug-state/in your study folder and saves everything there.
Next time
Always start Claude Code in the same study folder. Then just talk to it: "Check in.", "Plan my day.", "Log today.", or "Show me my dashboard."
If the pack doesn't start
- Make sure the path is exactly
~/.claude/skills/step1-pack/SKILL.md, not~/.claude/skills/step1-pack/step1-pack/SKILL.md(unzipping can add an extra folder level). - Quit Claude Code and start it again so it picks up new skills.
- More fixes in Troubleshooting.
