Install overview
Installing takes about two minutes. The one rule: install the whole pack folder, not single files.
Before you start
- Unzip the download. On a Mac, double-click the zip. On Windows, right-click it and choose Extract All.
- Make a study folder. Create a folder such as
med-school-coachin your home folder. You will open your AI in this folder every time, so it can find your saved progress. - Find the pack folder. Inside the unzipped download you will see a folder like
step1-pack/. That whole folder is what you install.
Pick your assistant

The first three can read and write files on your computer, which is how the pack keeps a real memory between sessions. Chat apps can't save files between chats, so the pack falls back to the STATE block.
Where your data lives
The first time you use a pack, your AI creates a skillplug-state/ folder inside your study folder. Your profile, dates, plans, logs, and reviews live there as plain files you can read and edit.
Don't delete skillplug-state
It is how the coach picks up where you left off. If you install more than one pack, they share this folder, so your profile and dates carry over. See State files for everything inside.
Say the first line
After installing, start a new conversation in your study folder and say the pack's first line:

Individual v1 skills
The ERAS, personal statement, interview, Researcher, and v1 Med Student skills are single folders, each with one SKILL.md. Copy the folders you want into your assistant's skills folder (same locations as above), or open any SKILL.md and paste its contents into your assistant's custom instructions, project instructions, or the start of a new conversation. Then talk to it as the skill describes, for example "help me pre-round" or "analyze my question block".
